The ADRIENNE+ project (Capitalization of the GIS Assessment Portal (PlanWise4Blue) developed under the Adrienne project) is a successor of the ADRIENNE project (2019 – 2022). The goal of ADRIENNE was to create a publicly accessible web-based geographic information system (GIS) portal for marine planners, marine resource managers and other stakeholders. As a result, the PlanWise4Blue platform was developed by the scientists at the University of Tartu. The platform aims to provide science-based support for assessing the impacts of human activities on the marine ecosystem and the services it provides. It combines economic benefits from the use of marine resources and models for considering the cumulative effects of human activities. The model makes it possible to assess the economic benefit of different scenarios and their environmental impact in the Estonian sea area. Based on the results of the analyses, solutions can be developed that ensure the greatest possible economic benefit while minimising environmental damage. The purpose of the economic benefit model is to increase the conscious management of the use of the Estonian sea area, taking into account its possible economic benefits. ADRIENNE+ project was launched to maximise ADRIENNE's outcomes by expanding PlanWise4Blue geographical reach and functionalities and distribute the project results extensively.

The main objective of the ARTEMIS project is to restore degraded seagrass meadows in the Mediterranean region and to set the stage for future scaling of restoration efforts across the Mediterranean. Through action in 4 pilots (Crete, Menorca, Monfalcone, Sardinia), ARTEMIS implements innovative restoration protocols and integrates ecosystem service values into financial and policy frameworks, aiming to test the concept of payment for ecosystem services (PES) as a financial solution for seagrass restoration. Drawing from the experiences in its pilots, ARTEMIS will deliver a series of outputs with the aim to facilitate uptake and scaling of learnings: a seagrass restoration toolbox, a framework for seagrass valuation and value storytelling, a cookbook for PES scaling in the Mediterranean area, a roadmap for corporate integration of seagrass ecosystem services and a Mediterranean policy action plan for seagrass restoration.

BioAgora is a collaborative project funded by the EU Horizon Europe programme. The main goal of the project is to connect research results on biodiversity to the needs of decision-making in a targeted dialogue between scientists, other knowledge holders, and policy actors. BioAgora is tasked to build the Science Service for Biodiversity, the scientific pillar of the EU Knowledge Centre for Biodiversity, which will support the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030 by facilitating the science-policy dialogue.

Speed dating with SELINA at the Cluster event Framework Transformative Change for Biodiversity
BIOTraCes stands for Biodiversity and transformative change for plural and nature-positive societies. Researchers in the project will develop knowledge, tools and novel approaches towards a society in harmony with nature. This will help to boost biodiversity across Europe. The project aims at tackling public policies, local and corporate strategies to be more inclusive and just. Thus, BIOTraCes is in line with the European Green Deal and the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
BIOTraCes will have nine case studies in sectors with a particularly high impact on biodiversity. They cover a representative range including food production, agriculture, forestry, water and fish conservation as well as urbanisation. As a unique feature, BIOTraCes will pay attention to marginalised and religious groups, gender and youth.

The aim of BioValue (Biodiversity value in spatial policy and planning leveraging multi-level and transformative change) is to leverage transformative change in spatial policymaking, planning practices and infrastructure development. Doing so, the project upscales opportunities for valuing biodiversity in support of EU strategic actions.
BioValue considers three complementary instrumental perspectives to support different sectors and actors in taking ownership of biodiversity concerns: Spatial planning and management instruments (SP&MI); Environmental assessment instruments (EAI); and Economic and financing instruments (E&FI).
The project explores the transformative potential of spatial planning processes through three case studies, which serve as Arenas for Transformation:
- Rewetting Peatlands and Reforestation Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Federal State, Germany
- Municipal Spatial Planning in Mafra Municipality, Portugal
- The Fersina, regenerating an urban river in Trento Municipality, Italy

SELINA and BioValue cooperate for transformative change SELINA and BioValue Projects continue synergies with a meeting in Trento
EcoAdvance (Assessing and Consolidating Recent Advances on Freshwater Ecosystem Restoration) supports decision makers by disentangling the threads and knots of freshwater restoration to help funders invest in projects that are prone to success and maximise synergies and impacts. EcoAdvance will highlight – through a literature review – the factors that will help or hinder project success. EcoAdvance will guide decisionmakers through the maze of data by putting a human face on freshwater restoration – showcasing people who have made it happen and can guide them around pitfalls, obstacles and risks with meaningful advice.
The five elements of the EcoAdvance puzzle logo emphasise the challenge of balancing floodplain and habitat impacts, stakeholder perspectives and needs, NBS construction innovations, and biodiversity with river connectivity considerations. These five segments are foundations for EcoAdvance’s work in developing the Prone 2 Success Checklist and buttressing it with the narratives and guidance of those who have succeeded in making a difference.

Restore4Life (Restoration of wetland complexes as life supporting systems in the Danube Basin), a new Horizon Europe funded project, will address the crises in the European wetland sphere through the development of a “Restore4Life Wetland Restoration Decision Support System” at the Danube Basin level. The service will be based on a shared vision for wetland restoration, including co-creation and co-development of tools that will allow local stakeholders and actors to be actively involved in restoration works and will help local businesses to adopt new activities through nature-based solutions supported by new generation of data analysis tools.
Throughout the duration of the project, we aim to achieve the following goals:
- Develop a Restore4Life Wetland Restoration Decision Support System;
- Empower the community;
- Support local revenue & business activities in restored ecosystems;
- Support the implementation of holistic wetland restoration solutions.
The project will run for 48 months and is led by the University of Bucharest. The consortium consists of a total of 31 organizations including 5 local and national authorities, 21 academic and research institutions, 3 NGOs and 2 SMEs. The project launched on 1 June and the official in-person kick off meeting will be held from 13-15 September in Bucharest, Romania.

SHARED GREEN DEAL is a project bringing together 22 leading organisations from across Europe including eight universities, three research institutions, eight network organisations and three SMEs. SHARED GREEN DEAL directly addresses European challenges with an aim to share actions, understandings, evidence, insights, responsibilities and benefits across stakeholders including policymakers and civil society. Issues of inclusivity and diversity are at the heart of the project to particularly account for disadvantaged and vulnerable social groups.
SHARED GREEN DEAL is structured around lessons from a set of 24 social experiments around six priority Green Deal topics: Clean Energy, Circular Economy, Efficient Renovations, Sustainable Mobility, Sustainable Food and Preserving Biodiversity. The social experiments have been delivered across different member states, covering different social science and humanities disciplines, with multi-stakeholder, practice-based and policy-science expertise, including gender studies as a key component throughout.
The output includes the development of tools (e.g. an online Green Deal policy tracker) and through the development of effective new strategies SHARED GREEN DEAL is expected to deliver changes in societal practises and in the behaviour of individuals, communities, and public and private organisations.
