Between 27-30 October 2025, the SELINA partners gathered in Trento, Italy, for the project’s 6th workshop, hosted by the University of Trento. Around 70 participants attended in person, with an additional 10 joining online.

The theme of the workshop, “Evidence-based decision-making in the public sector,” focused on the latest updates and results from SELINA’s public Demonstration Projects. Over four productive days, participants built on the collaborative spirit of previous meetings, sharing progress, aligning ongoing work, and exploring practical pathways to strengthen the impact and usability of SELINA’s outputs.

The first day opened with an overview of the project’s progress and upcoming milestones, followed by sessions dedicated to urban greening strategies and the needs of decision-makers. These discussions emphasised how SELINA’s findings can better inform policy priorities and support implementation across governance levels. Afternoon sessions introduced the latest updates to the Compendium of Guidance (CoG) and explored its growing role as a decision-support tool. Partners also shared insights from research activities, identified enabling factors for change, and reflected on how to translate scientific results into practical applications.

The second day combined field exploration and in-depth working sessions. Participants visited Mount Bondone and the Viote Botanical Garden, gaining first-hand insights into local biodiversity and nature-based solutions in the Trento region. The afternoon focused on updates from several work packages, covering progress in communication, dissemination, and engagement with public and private sector stakeholders. Discussions also explored ways to strengthen the shared use of evidence and foster collaboration across sectors.

The third day centred on the integration of ecosystem condition, services, and accounting approaches within demonstration projects and test sites. Partners collaborated to refine results, align outputs, and identify opportunities for joint publications. Sessions also examined decision support across governance levels and concluded with reflections on ethical and justice considerations in ecosystem assessments and policy implementation.

The workshop concluded with a closing ceremony celebrating four days of collaboration, dialogue, and shared learning. The University of Trento, as host, symbolically passed the baton to the Cohab Initiative and the Capitals Coalition, who will organise the 7th SELINA Workshop in Galway, Ireland, in the summer of 2026. The upcoming workshop will shift focus towards the private sector, continuing SELINA’s mission to strengthen the science–policy–business interface across Europe.
