Ever since the project’s launch in July of 2022, SELINA Partners have been focused on raising awareness about the project, setting the scene for five successful and impactful years ahead. 

In August, the SELINA website went live, making all essential information about the project quickly and easily accessible. Among other things, it includes information about the project’s partners, mission, and work packages, as well as an online library of SELINA publications. Through the website, one can also find links to the SELINA social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube) as well as subscribe to the SELINA Newsletter.

SELINA Partner Pensoft also developed promotional materials for the project, including a poster, a brochure, a 4-page project summary, a banner, and a sticker. These can be found on the Media Center area of the website, alongside the project’s press releases and logos.

In September, SELINA Coordinator Prof. Dr. Benjamin Burkhard hosted the official SELINA Kick-off meeting in Hannover. The 4-day event (14-17 September) brought together representatives from all 50 SELINA Partners, including leading experts on ES science, ecosystem accounting, business- and policy-related decision making, and science-policy-business interfaces from related actions (OpenNESS, ESMERALDA, MAIA, MAES, ESP, IPBES, BD Partnership).

SELINA members had the opportunity to meet again in October, at the 4th ESP Europe Conference in Heraklion, Greece. The Conference focused on ‘Ecosystem services empowering people and societies in times of crises’ and SELINA was represented, among others, by the project’s coordinator and ESP Executive committee Co-Chair, Prof. Dr. Benjamin Burkhard (LUH) and SELINA member and ESP Chair, Dr Dolf de Groot (FSD). As 2022 comes to a close, preparations have already begun for a productive 2023 and for the project’s first Workshop, which will take place in Sofia, Bulgaria, between 27-31 March.
