The Ecosystem Department of the South Atlantic Environmental Research Institute (SAERI) is looking for a Project Officer to work on the SELINA (Science for evidence-based and sustainable decisions about natural capital) project in which SAERI is currently involved. The duration of the position is 22 months starting September 2023.
The position will be based in both Falkland Island (September 2023 - July 2024) and St. Helena (August 2024 - June 2025).
The SELINA Project Officer will contribute to the interface between Science and Policy on the Falkland Islands and St. Helena and will analyse a wealth of existing environmental datasets (most of which are spatial) to be able to provide evidence for high-level decision-makers in real-time.
Profile of the candidate:

Relevant Master degree
-
At least 3-5 years of post-graduate experience in spatial data analysis

Expert GIS, Quantum GIS (QGIS) and ArcGISuser

Experience of working with spatial datasets in software such as Quantum GIS or ESRI ArcGIS
Main responsibilities include:

Lead on the implementation of SAERI’s input into the SELINA project work packages and tasks, and prepare all SAERI’s required input into project reporting

Work closely with stakeholders in the Falkland Islands and St. Helena to analyse spatial data as required for policy and decision-making

Work closely with stakeholders in the Falkland Islands and St. Helena to determine the spatial data outputs that are required to feed into upcoming or existing policy and decisions.
