The 17th Biennial Conference of the International Society for Ecological Economics "Economies for life: Alliances for practicing ecological economics in a world in transition" will take place in Colombia during the week of 23rd -28th October 2023. The conference is organized by an inter-institutional consortium composed of several Colombian Universities: Universidad del Magdalena, Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Universidad de Los Andes, and Universidad del Valle, along with the Mesoamerican and Andean Societies for Ecological Economics.
The conference will have two main events, starting with a specialized course for decision makers from across Latin America and other stakeholders, to be held on the 23rd and 24th of October in the capital city of Bogotá, followed by the main conference, comprised of academic sessions and dialogues between ways of knowing, which will take place in the Caribbean city of Santa Marta, from the 26th to the 28th of October.
During the workshop, several innovations inspired by shared experiences of mixed formats in recent years will be presented. There will be sessions organized around both regular and special tracks, as well as by format-free events, such as courses, workshops, and artistic interventions. A platform for uploading and viewing pre-recorded academic presentations will be provided on the conference website, creating a new mixed format environment that enables us to allocate more time to Q&A and discussion of presentations during the in-person sessions.
